Two New Reasons to Eat Your Way Around Skipton

If you needed another excuse to wander into Skipton for a coffee, cake or something a little more substantial, we’ve got some good news…

Two new independent food businesses are coming to town! And, as far as we’re concerned, you can never have too many places to eat in Skipton. Although our waistlines may disagree.

🥐 Say hello to The Hatch Bakery

First up is The Hatch Bakery, which is opening at 66 Sheep Street, right in the heart of Skipton.

A new bakery is always welcome news, particularly when it involves the possibility of fresh bread, pastries, cakes and coffee. We’re expecting this could become one of those places where you pop in thinking “I’ll just have a coffee” and emerge several minutes later carrying a bag of something delicious.

The Hatch Bakery is due to open in September, adding another independent business to Skipton’s growing food and drink scene.

And being on Sheep Street means it’s perfectly placed for a little wander around the shops, a browse around Skipton Market or simply rewarding yourself after all that strenuous sightseeing with a pastry.

We think that sounds like a very sensible plan.

🇮🇹 Ciao Italy!

Then there’s Ciao Italy, which is bringing a taste of Italy to 2 Keighley Road, in the former Fent Shop.

The name rather gives the game away… this one is going to be Italian!

Ciao Italy is set to become a new independent Italian restaurant in Skipton, offering another option for anyone fancying pizza, pasta and a little taste of la dolce vita without having to drive all the way to Italy.

The premises have already been the subject of a new licensing application, with the proposed opening hours running from 10am until 11pm, so it sounds as though Ciao Italy could be catering for everything from a daytime bite to an evening meal.

And we rather like the idea of it being on Keighley Road. It’s just a short walk from the centre of town, making it another option for our guests who fancy eating out without having to worry about finding the car keys again.

🍰 Skipton’s food scene keeps growing

These two new arrivals are another reminder that Skipton isn’t standing still.

There’s already a great choice of independent cafés, bakeries, restaurants and pubs around the town, and new businesses like these add even more variety.

For visitors staying at Thisledo Holiday Cottage, it also means even more choice within easy walking distance. One of the things we love about the cottage’s location is that you can leave the car behind and walk into Skipton for a coffee, lunch, dinner or a wander around the market.

And now there are two more places to add to the list.

So whether you’re a “coffee and cake” person, a “just one more pastry” person, or firmly in the “pizza and pasta please” camp, it looks like Skipton is about to give you a couple more reasons to loosen your belt.

We’ll be keeping an eye on both openings and, once they’re up and running, we’ll be popping along to see what’s on offer.

In the meantime, if you’re staying at Thisledo, you might want to arrive hungry…

Skipton clearly has other plans for your diet! 😋

Please note: opening dates and menus can change, so check directly with the businesses before visiting.
