If there was one benefit arising from the last two years of living with Covid-19, it could be the growth in home or hybrid working. This way of working works well with juggling the demands of home and work committments.
As well as hybrid working, some guests at Thisledo Holiday Cottage are adopting hybrid holidays; a mixture of working and holidaying in the Yorkshire Dales.
Our Skipton holiday cottage located in a peacful location is equipped with fibre broadband, an extendable dining table and most importantly a coffee shop within a stones throw of the front door. What more do you need to be able to complete your work and then spend time exploring Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales.
Depending on your companys expense policy, you may even be able to claim some of the costs of renting the cottage as expenses!

How close is the nearest pub to the holiday cottage?
14th May 2022
You arrived at the cottage, unpacked, and now need a drink to toast the start of your holiday. How close is the nearest pub from Thisledo Holiday cottage.
The closest pub is The Royal Shepherd Inn just off Coach Street and is only a few minutes walk from the cottage on your way into the town centre. It is the only pub in the country to be called the Royal Shepherd and has been serving since the 17th Century, so they know a thing or two about hospitality.
If you then feel like exploring more Skipton pubs, a few doors down you will the Yorkshire Rose, the Narrow Boat, the Mesh Room, the Boat House……………… The list of pubs in Skipton is long and whatever your taste, you will be able to find somewhere to enjoy the drink of your choice in the surroundings of your choice.
Cheers.
Welcome to your holiday cottage in Skipton
7th May 2022
Do you like to see a welcome hamper or gift when you arrive at your holiday accommodation?
Over the years, we have gone through periods of providing welcome gifts and also not providing them. Our experience is that some guests love them and others leave them untouched.
So at the moment, we are not providing a welcome gift on arrival at Thisledo Holiday Cottage but are focusing on other things which can help to provide you with a great holiday experience from the start.
This includes offering an early check-in service so that you can arrive early and start exploring Skipton on a Saturday afternoon. We also provide plenty of tourist information on things to do and see in Skipton and the surrounding area. Finally, we will contact you via text early Saturday evening to check that you have arrived safely and that everything is OK for you at the cottage.
These are little things but guests do appreciate them.
Tips – What to do first thing on a Sunday?
1st May 2022
For many of the guests staying at Thisledo Holiday Cottage, Sunday morning is the first opportunity to walk into the Town Centre and explore.
First thing Sunday is an ideal time to get your bearings and to seek out the restaurants, bars, and shops you would like to visit during your stay. After 11 am Skipton starts to get busier with day trippers, but by then with your research done you’ll be able to call in at one of the many coffee shops that Skipton has to offer before taking the short walk back to the cottage.
If you’re still in explorer mode, then why not take a walk through Skipton Woods, a hidden gem of a place located behind Skipton Castle and accessed along the canal opposite Staniforths Pie Shop.
A town centre guide will be provided for you in the tourist information at the cottage

Work is underway on the refurbishment
20th February 2022
The builders move into our holiday cottage next week, not to stay but to complete the refurbishment work in time for the start of the Spring / Summer 2022 season. Local Skipton Builder Andrew Elseworth and his team are updating the damp proofing and replastering the living room, bathroom and staircase.
The work is expected to take around a week and then when they’re done, we can start with the redecorating of the popular holiday property to give it a fresh, contemporary welcome feeling for future guests. We expect to reopen at the start of April.
Here’s some images of the how things are looking:-
Cottage owners Shelley & Steve usually redecorate and update one room every year in the cottage and this is the largest refurbishment they have undertaken. Whilst there is a lot of work to be done, the changes will provide a new look to the dog friendly cottage which has been welcoming guests for over 20 years.

Corona Virus Wheel
22nd January 2022
One of the best vantage points on the hills surrounding Skipton is Pinhaw Beacon which you can easily walk to after driving to the carpark located on the tops road between Carleton and Colne.
From the carpark alone, the views across the Yorkshire Dales are outstanding, so even if walking is not your thing, drive there and enjoy the panoramic vista.
In tribute to the National Health Service and in memory of those who have lost their lives due to Covid 19, a metallic wheel showing the names of the peaks in the distance. It is a wonderful memorial and also enlightening discovery of the hills you can see in the distance. The peaks include Pendle Hill, Whernside & even Malham Cove. Of course, the view is dependent on the Yorkshire weather.
It takes less about 10 minutes to drive from the holiday cottage to the car park and about 15 minutes to walk up to the top of Pinhaw.
