Choose Your Self Catering Accommodation Carefully

You’ve decided that you would like to come to the Yorkshire Dales for a holiday and to have a base in the market town of Skipton.

You type in ‘ Skipton self catering accommodation’, ‘ Skipton holiday cottages’ or ‘holiday cottages in Skipton’ or something similiar.

Google comes back with various sites with holiday cottages in Skipton and now your hard work begins, how do you filter down the results?

Well, our advice is that you look carefully at the cottage location, there are a lot of fantastic holiday cottages available, but many of them are not actually located in Skipton, but are instead situated in villages outside Skipton, often in very rural & remote Dales villages which still have Skipton as the post town.

If you want to stay in Skipton, so that you can walk into town in the evening for a meal and not have to worry about driving or if you want to be able to walk to the market and shops, then make sure the holiday cottage is in the town of Skipton. Most of them will be a few minutes walk from the town centre.

Otherwise, you could find yourself located in a lovely cottage but having to drive to the shops, restaurants, pubs, etc and parking in Skipton can be difficult and expensive!

Some of our regular visitors to Skipton and the surrounding Yorkshire Dales may have recognised some of the outdoor scenes in the BBC hit series ‘Last Tango in Halifax’.

Skipton High Street and the road into Carleton both featured in a car chase and the local newspaper, the Craven Herald was there to report on the filming. Read their report here.

If you have watched the series and are planning to take a self catering holiday in Skipton to take in some of the sights, please call on 01756 795024 or visit www.thisledo.co.uk for our cottage availability.

Christmas In Skipton

We receive many enquiries about the availability of our holiday cottage for Christmas and New Year, but unfortunately Thisledo Holiday Cottage is not available between November and April.

Skipton has many events during December including:-
