Booking.com Traveller Review Award

2020 was like no other year in the 18 years history of Thisledo Holiday Cottage due to Covid-19.

The season started poorly with cancellations from overseas visitors, UK Guests postponing their holidays to 2021 & ensuring Covid-19 protocols were observed for Guests who came to stay in our holiday cottage in Skipton.

It is pleasing that our efforts to provide our Guests with outstanding hospitality despite all of last year’s challenges have been recognised by Booking.com

We worked hard to provide a Covid-19 secure holiday cottage to ensure our guests could make the most of the trips they were able to take. Their exceptional review scores show how much they appreciated it.

2021 a return to some kind of normality!

I don’t know about you but I need a holiday!

2020 has been a year unlike any of us have ever witnessed and whilst the Covid – 19 vaccines provide a way out, it will be a slow and gradual process before life returns to some kind of normality.

We had big holiday plans for 2020 as it was our retirement year, but several Covid – 19 related holiday cancellations put an end to those plans. We did enjoy several days in an isolated holiday cottage in Northumbria in September when it looked like things were improving but then our New Year’s Eve holiday to a cottage in the Lake District was cancelled due to tier changes at the very last minute.

Our thoughts are turning to holidays in 2021 and whilst it would be great to go abroad to feel the warmth of the sun our backs, the speed of vaccination programmes around Europe & Covid infections and restrictions varying from country to country and likely to remain so throughout 2021, holiday cottages will be our holidays of choice this year.

Why you may ask?

Well, mainly because it feels like the safest holiday option in this year of transition to a new normal. It seems that we are not alone with that thought as the holiday industry is predicting a boom in UK staycations for this year.

With that in mind and with our holiday cottage owner hat on, we are gearing up to reopen our dog friendly holiday cottage at the end of April 2021 and to welcome back past and new guests through to the end of October.

As last year, we will follow all Covid -19 guidance and to have processes in place to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene to help minimise the risk and protect the health and safety of our guests.

We will also continue to provide a ‘Book your 2021 holiday with confidence condition’ with each booking, so that in the event of Government Covid-19 restrictions prevent your visit, we will give you the option to defer your booking, receive a credit note or cancel your booking and receive a full refund.

All Creatures Great & Small

The remake of the 1970 classic series All Creatures Great & Small has been filmed in and around the Yorkshire Dales with Grassington being the location of the Vet Surgery.

If you are staying at our holiday cottage in Skipton, why not take a day to take in some of the locations which were used in the filming. Go for lunch in Grassington, drive across Barden Bridge , walk in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales Countryside or take a steam train on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway which became Darrowby Station.

Visit Britain Good to Go Standard

We’re pleased to inform future Guests that Thisledo Holiday Cottage are following Government and Industry Covid-19 Guidelines, ensuring that we have processes in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social/physical distancing.

We have enhanced our already high cleaning and safety standards to ensure that the Covid-19 risks to our Guests are minimised as far as possible and that you have an enjoyable and healthy stay.

Parking

A frequent question from potential visitors to Thisledo Holiday Cottage is ‘ do you have parking with the cottage?’

Unfortunately, there is no parking, but you can park very close to the cottage to load and unload your car in a designated 20 minute parking zone.

Skipton is a very safe area including the part of Skipton where the cottage is located. We suggest parking on an adjacent street called Gainsborough Court which is a couple of minutes walk away. The street has very little passing cars and pedestrians.

In the many years, we have run the cottage, no guests have ever reported any problems.
