It might not have the glamour of the Cannes Film Festival but it will be a memorable and fun night out. Here’s the blurb from the Hinterlands web site
Hinterlands is a new annual festival celebrating rural film in dramatic ways across the landscapes of the Lakes and Dales.
The festival will showcase films set in and about the countryside. As well as screenings of classics and brand-new titles, there will be immersive experiences and activities inspired by some of our favourite film moments as well as unique screenings and events in Skipton’s best places and unusual spaces.
The best part it’s all only a few minutes walk away from the holiday cottage.

Easter 2019 – Cracking the Flags!

Thisledo Holiday Cottage, located on Gargrave Road, Skipton opened for the 2019 season at the Easter Weekend, with the first guests enjoying glorious hot sunny weather.
Thisledo is only a few minutes walk from the town centre enabling you to stroll into town and enjoy a drink whilst basking in the sunshine with otehr tourists and the friendly locals.
The Castle Pub is a very popular destination for sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine, but there’s lots of other great locations including pubs on Coach Street, the Canal Basin and other pubs on the high street with outdoor sitting areas.

Just a 10 minutes drive from Thisledo Holiday Cottage is a wonderful walk which gives you views into the distant Yorkshire Dales and on a clear day, even the Lake District.
If you start or finish in Eslack, then you can enjoy some food and drink at the Tempest Arms. Then return back to Skipton to rest and relax in your holiday home.

Skipton keeps on growing

Spring 2019 has arrived and it is time to get on those walking boots and head into the Dales or is it?
How about just setting off from your Skipton Holiday Cottage on a walk around the hills and countryside surrounding Skipton. You see skipton from a whole different perspective and appreciate how much the Town has grown over the years.
With a walk under your belt, you can then head back into the town centre and visit one of the dog friendly pubs or cafe for lunch. Enjoy.
Today is not one of the days to be in the Yorkshire Dales

The weather in the Yorkshire Dales can be challenging and in some cases dangerous, today was one of those days when even the usually tranquil beck through Skipton Woods was a torrent.
Keeping sug and warm in a Skipton Based Holiday Cottage like Thisledo Holiday Cottage sounds like a much better idea, especially as there is a Rayburn to keep you extra warm.

10.30am Saturday 23 February 2019, a clear blue sky and looking very beautiful out there today and time to get out and about in the Yorkshire Dales.
It’s closed season for Thisledo Holiday Cottage which means that we’re not cleaning the cottage this morning and we have free time to go on a walk ourselves. This morning we’re walking from Embsay to Bolton Abbey, even taking a picnic to make a day of it and of course Molly, our Cocker Spaniel is coming along too.

New Places to Eat in 2019

If you are staying in Skipton and self catering, but would rather eat out every night at local restaurants, then Skipton has lots to offer. Information is available in our Holiday Cottage regarding local restaurants, but like mosts towns restaurants come and go.
If you are coming to Thisledo Holiday Cottage in 2019, there is a new place in town called The Little House of Tapas or Lascita.
This new restuarant located in the Town Centre ( just opposite the Pie Shop )is only a few minutes walk from the cottage. Enjoy
What is your favorite day out in the Yorkshire Dales?

We love to hear from our Guests about their stay in Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales.
Many guests come to walk around the Dales, many bringing their four legged friends to join them. There are lots of great walks which are all the more enjoyable in our opinion if they include a stop at a friendly local pub for lunch.
Of course, Skipton has many other things to keep you entertained during your stay at our dog friendly holiday cottage. Skipton Market is a firm favourite and of course you cannot come to Skipton without a visit to Skipton Castle.
More adventurous guests take bus and train journey to other parts of Yorkshire including Harrogate, the Yorkshire coast and some even venture into Lancashire!

The cottage is Pet Friendly and is situated around a 5 minute walk from Skipton Town Centre.

Skipton based Thisledo Holiday Cottage has now reached the end of the 2018 and would like to thank new and regular guests for staying at the holiday cottage. Guest feedback has once again been very positive with most guests commenting on the ideal location of the cottage which is only a few minutes walk away from the centre of Skipton.
Feedback from four legged friends who have accompanied their parents on their holiday as likewise been very favourable. The Doggy Welcome Pack was greatly appreciated and most dogs commented on the dog friendliness of Skipton.
Booking for 2019 are now being taken and it is now possible to book the cottage on thisledo.co.uk rather than via booking accommodation websites.
We look forward to seeing old and new guests next year.
