Cycle Holidays in the Yorkshire Dales

Interest in cycling, both with road bikes and mountain bikes continues to grow. In the Yorkshire Dales, the talk of the town is the arrival of Le Tour in 2014. The famous Tour De France is taking a slight detour and will be staging some events in the Yorkshire Dales & will pass through Skipton.
So, if you are interested in coming to Yorkshire to re-enact your own Le Tour following the route pedalled by the Tour De France competitors which will be very well sign posted, why not stay at Thisledo Holiday Cottage in Skipton.
The cottage is ideally located, just a few minutes walk from Skipton Town Centre, the railway station and Skipton is also known as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales.

Normally Thisledo Holiday Cottage in skipton is not available during the months of November to April. However, this year, the cottage is available from January 2014 through to the end of October.
So, if you are thinking of taking a break in the Yorkshire Dales over the next few months, Thisledo might just do for you.

Le Tour Yorkshire

The build up to some stages of the Tour de France taking place in Yorkshire including stages around Skipton is well underway.
Road surfaces are being prepared, Le Tour signage being installed and accommodation providors gearing up for thousands of visitors to the region.

Planning a Summer 2014 Holiday in the Yorkshire Dales

Now that the Christmas & New Year Festivities are over, our attention changes to holiday planning for 2014.
Lasy year, we trialled using Holiday Lettings and Tripadvisor to allow bookings for Thisledo Holiday Cottage in Skipton, North Yorkshire to be made and paid for online. The trial proved to be very successful and so we have decided to use this as our preferred way of receiving bookings for the holiday cottage.

Working Away From Home?

If you are one of the many professionals working away from home, Monday to Friday, staying in a hotel or B&B; have you ever considered staying in a self catered property instead?
During the months of November to April each year, Thisledo Holiday Cottage is available to rent on a short term 3 or 6 monthly basis. This makes it an ideal alternative to staying in hotels & B&Bs, as you can now have a permanent base during your contract.
Unlike many properties to let in Skipton, Thisledo is fully furnished and equipped; it’s almost like home from home.
Over the years, we have had people who work with Skipton Building Society, Carven District Council, Systagenix & many smaller businesses.

Why Not Visit the Cinema During Your Stay?

Skipton might not be blessed with a multiplex cinema, but the Plaza Cinema on Sackville Street takes you back to when a cinema was a cinema!
The Plaza still gets all the top films and makes a great night out. The cinema is located in the town centre and takes around 10 to 15 minutes to walk to from Thisledo Holiday cottage.

2014 Holiday Cottage Bookings

This year we decided to link up with Holiday Lettings to provide online booking facilities and it is proving to be a great success.
Potential guests can now check availability, book and pay for their stay at our Yorkshire Dales Holiday Cottage from their PCs or tablets.
The system is easy to use, fully secure and uses the security of Paypal to make payments.

End of The Season

Our last guests for the 2013 season left this weekend and Thisledo Holiday Cottage is now closed until May 2014.
It’s been a great summer in Skipton with many weeks of fine weather and some glorious sunny days to get out and about in the Yorkshire Dales. Our guests for 2013 , have come from all over the world including Australia & Germany.
Many guests have brought their 4 legged companions along with them to enjoy their holiday. Thisledo is one of only handful of dog friendly holiday cottages in Skipton.
Whilst the holiday cottage is closed, broadband will be installed to provide guests in 2014 with free internet and WIFI access, not all holiday cottages in Skipton provide that at the moment.
The cottage will also be going through some refurbishment with a full bathroom makeover planned and the installation of a shower which has been one of the main improvement feedback comments provided by guests.

2014 is also a big year for Skipton as it has now been confirmed that the Tour De France Yorkshire Leg will be coming through Skipton.

Yorkshire Leg of the 2014 Tour De France

It is looking more and more likely that the Yorkshire Leg of the Tour De France will pass through Skipton Town Centre along the High Street on Saturday July 5th 2014.
